September 2006 | Press Release in regards to BRAU fair

Greatly simplified cabling for hygienic control valves
Valves with digital AS-i positioners ideally suited at lower field level

One of our goals in developing an AS interface was to make installation fast, reliable and easy while keeping connection costs low. This innovative bus system at the actuator-sensor level has proved highly popular, especially in drinks sector technology. An AS-i-based system makes it very easy to install, start up and reliably monitor modular-built plants in particular. Schubert & Salzer have therefore incorporated AS-i networking technology into their new 8049 digital positioner to exploit the key benefits of AS-i into their actuating and control valves, namely:
•    great reduction in cabling cost and effort, meaning
•    significantly fewer sources of faults, and
•    much simpler installation and commissioning.
So we can now show the world’s first digital AS-i positioner for actuating pneumatic control valves. Together with their positioners, they are linked to the master by means of the characteristic yellow, twin-conductor AS-i cable whose dual function is to supply power while simultaneously transmitting data.

May 2006 | Press Release in regards to Achema

New digital positioner with twin-conductor technology
Digital drive for control valves in the chemical and process industries

So-called “top-mounted” designs have proved to be an ideal way of incorporating positioners on pneumatic control valves. They rest centrally over the valve actuator and do not have to be linked via an actuating lever from the side. An integrated mounting of this type makes for a more compact construction. Furthermore, all moving parts, such as the lever for the stroke feedback, are no longer accessible from the outside which provides significantly greater operating assurance. For many years now, Schubert & Salzer Control Systems GmbH, the Ingolstadt valve specialists, have preferred to use these integrated positioners. The company has chosen ACHEMA to introduce the next generation of this successful concept, the 8049 digital positioner.
