Chemicals, paints and lacquers
We do not have to think hard to recognise the ever-presence of chemical substances in our everyday lives. Valves from Schubert & Salzer Control Systems are used in the often complex manufacturing processes. These are predominantly sliding gate valves, ball sector valves, micro valves and, as the traditional all-rounder, the angle seat valves.

Here they are used, for example, in the production of hydrogen fluoride (in the case of this and other dangerous media, it is preferable to use Schubert & Salzer valves with a metal bellows since this provides a 100% seal to the exterior), desiccant manufacture, the production of plastics, in the metering of liquid plastic or the metering of dyestuff suspension with solids content.
The tasks are many and varied: among their many duties, Schubert & Salzer valves control the heating and cooling of reactors, they are used in the processing and control of steam, provide precise metering of the different chemicals or liquid paints, or carry out the regulation of compressed air or vacuums.

In most cases, chemical processes place heavy demands on resistance to media, requiring the use of special materials, such as Hastelloy. With regard to resistance to wear, not only traditional angle seat valves but also sliding gate valves and ball sector valves meet the challenges of demanding media conditions and, what is more, provide highly precise control.

A good example of such an application is the production of ultra pure sulphuric acids and other ultra pure chemicals. As key components, sliding gate valves have proved to be superior in the acid thinning process since they can be used even with highly alloyed or exotic materials such as PTFE (Polytetrafluorethylene / Teflon), glass, platinum or gold. In doing so, they compensate precisely for variations of up to 100%. For more information on this, read the user report on PVS Chemicals.

Furthermore, renowned manufacturers of plastics rely on the control precision of Schubert & Salzer’s ball sector valves. The comparatively long service lives, the small space requirement, the easy maintenance as well as the high quality of control all speak for themselves. With ball sectors specially machined out, these valves are self-cleaning and are therefore ideally suited for shut-off and control tasks involving abrasive and pasty media.
